This bird landed on our rip-rap one morning. I hadn's seen this species before, so I shot a few
pictures. I was puzzled why it was hanging around after seeing me through the window. I then
noticed it was eating a meal, probably a gecko.
I tried to identify it looking at various hawks on the Internet, but wasn't sure I had the correct ID
(I didn't). I sent the pictures to Eric Moore, owner of the Jay's Bird Barn in Prescott and a weekly
columnist in the Daily Courier newspaper. He identified the bird for me as a Cooper's Hawk.
My thanks to Eric.
