One day as I was digging a hole in the front yard to install a flagpole, my wife decided to
sweep a little clod of dirt off the sidewalk. When she went to do so, the little clod moved.
In looking at it closer, she discovered it was not a clod of dirt, but a little baby Horned Toad.
In fact, there were two of them on the sidewalk. They were so small and cute, I couldn't
resist taking pictures of them. When I photographed these, we hadn't seen other babies.
Since, we have seen several babies smaller than these (scroll down).
The baby horned toad below is typical of the ones we have been seeing this summer.
The little tyke below is the same size as the one above next to the dime. He seemed to enjoy
sitting here on the corner of our drive for a couple of hours. Evidently, the hot concrete
didn't bother him too much.
